Description: Who inspires you? Whose teachings uplift and quicken you? Roots offers students an opportunity to study three beautiful souls whose works most influenced Ernest Holmes. Ralph Waldo Emerson, originally a minister, was a compelling speaker who traveled the country sharing his wisdom. In his writings, we find the bright flash of eternity, the vista of the timeless caught in a sunburst of words. "A man should learn to detect and watch that gleam of light which flashes across his mind from within . . ." Ernest Holmes said, "I read Emerson like I drink water." The writings of Thomas Troward, a Divisional Judge in India, had a profound effect on the development of New Thought, and are beautiful in their sustained clearness of thought and style. Troward reminds us that "in proportion to our increasing recognition of Spirit our power of producing outward visible results by the action of our thought will grow." Emma Curtis Hopkins, called the teacher of teachers, gives us very practical ways to court the Presence. Emma brings us a direct transmission of Truth, having devoted her life to daily deep spiritual practices that brought her to a full revelation of Spirit and our relationship therein. "There is one God, above you all, and through you all, and in you all." Join Ginny Ogden for a deeper look at each of these powerful influences and how their teachings are woven into the philosophy, the faith, the way of life that Ernest Holmes created as the Science of Mind and Spirit.
